PAPILLON GWI Access, Time and Attendance Control System


PAPILLON offers a system for entry and exit control that in fact comprises two products: Access Control System and Time and Attendance Control System. The systems can operate either independently or in combination utilizing the same hardware for event posting.

The Access Control System provides monitoring of staff and transport movement within secured premises as well as at the said areas’ border crossing. Using electronic execution units (electronic locks, turnstiles, etc.) the system prevents unauthorized access to particular areas or rooms within certain time frames (access schedule).

The Time and Attendance Control System allows collecting and registering data on man-hours worked, revealing facts of executive schedule disruptions (coming late, early leaving, absence from work) as well as generating time sheets to be transferred for payroll accounting.

The PAPILLON GWI system can be supplemented with a video surveillance system.

The system enables creation and maintenance of an electronic database of the staff enrolled by divisions or departments and that of nonemployees who are admitted to the premises as well. In addition to comprehensive information on every staff member (portrait, name, position/job, department, access permissions, executive schedule), his personal identifier is also registered and stored in the database.

As a personal identifier, PAPILLON GWI can use any of the following:

  • Unique identification code (ID code) assigned to the employee, when being enrolled in the database, and stored on a proximity (contactless) smart card
  • Biometrics data
    – Fingerprint
    – Iris pattern

How It Works

To enable the functioning of the system, checkpoints each fitted with a reader and a bridge are installed at all entrances and exits within a specified territory (room, laboratory, storehouse, any other premises), and a database is generated to store personal data on the staff (mugshot, name, position, department, permissions, etc.). Every employee is provided with a personal identification card (let-pass) having a unique ID number.

Passing through any checkpoint, an employee brings his ID card to the reader that accepts and transmits its unique code to the bridge. The bridge stores unique codes of all ID cards of the registrants. Having identified the code, the bridge takes a decision to let the person pass through a turnstile according to time permitted or not. This information is processed and transmitted to the server, where that event is logged (bridge number, employee’s code, time of event). The employee’s mugshot and personal data appear on the guard-post display. The guard officer can choose either manual or automatic mode to actuate an execution device - lock, turnstile, or any other.

In case the Access Control System is supplemented with the Time and Attendance Control System, all employees’ comings in or out through any of the checkpoints are fixed on the server. Upon the information received and the conditions set, the system generates a report. The report contains data on how long the employee remained in this or that place, room, area, etc. as well as data on his working time and executive schedule disruptions (coming late, early leaving, absence from work, exceeding the lunchtime limit, etc.).

PAPILLON GWI features a user-friendly WEB-interface, easy to view and to edit data on the staff moving over the territory of enterprise and flexible to customize the system. The application commands to access data and to manage the system are available through any computer within the local area network or via Internet according to due permissions assigned.

  • Modular design provides for use of a system of video surveillance of employees’ activities and hardware functioning

  • Ease of integration into existing applications of third-party actuating mechanisms

  • Use of remote key fobs by drivers to be registered when moving into or leaving the premises (the driver does not need to leave his vehicle)

Time and Attendance Control System Capabilities

  • Individual labor time scheduling and roster maintenance (including the lunch period and shift work) and automatic fixing of the schedule disruptions (coming late, early leaving, absence from work, exceeding the lunchtime limit, etc.)

  • Ability to collect and register data on off-the-job time (time spent in rest areas, gyms, dining rooms, etc. within the premises) and exclude it from the working time

  • Ability to compile a working calendar taking into consideration days off, red-letter and pre-red-letter days either for every employee individually or for a whole department or division. Reporting man-hours worked (including being on sick-leave, vacation, etc.) in the format meeting the payroll accounting requirements.

Biometric Solutions for Entry & Exit Control
Application-Specific Features

To use biometrics for secure physical access control, your database must contain fingerprint or iris images in addition to mugshots and personal descriptors. Ad hoc live-scan devices manufactured by PAPILLON are used for fingerprint or iris image capture. These images are digitally processed and stored on the database server. The checkpoints are equipped with PAPILLON DS-21C fingerprint or PAPILLON ZIRKON-4 access unit respectively. The captured images are automatically compressed and transmitted to the server for 1-1 or 1-N identification. The result of authentication is displayed on the guard-post screen.

One of the advantages distinguishing the iris recognition technology is its "non-aggressiveness" to a person verified, inasmuch as there is no direct contact with the equipment – just a look into the camera.

The software and most of the hardware componentries are designed and produced by PAPILLON thereby ensuring configurability of our let-pass systems and their flexible customization in line with the demands of our customers. The PAPILLON GWI-based applications of entry and exit control can be configured from minimal to most sophisticated systems operating with many-thousand record databases and benefiting from state-of-the-art technologies available.
Technological innovations inspire the PAPILLON designers to constantly perfect the system of entry and exit control. Thus, for instance, a brand-new device has been designed, incorporating a computer and a bridge and having unchallengeable advantages such as compact size, unlimited database and lower price. This device itself makes the authentication, all without communication with the server.

To provide more comfort and convenience, the security guard station will be equipped with a touch screen in the near future.

PAPILLON provides also customer training as well as after-sale maintenance services to achieve the ability to operate the entry and exit control system on a day-to-day basis.
